This workshop is designed to help junior and middle managers to better understand their roles in supporting the pursuit of the organization’s strategic objectives through the development of high performing teams. It will also challenge the participants to examine how the quality of engagement with their team members can help or hinder the effective pursuit of performance goals.

• Examine the impact of leader behaviour on the effectiveness of work units
• Identify the competencies required for effective leadership
• Develop working visions for their units that are aligned to the organization’s strategic goals
• Explore the importance of understanding and developing the potential of their team members to achieve performance goals
• Identify strategies for intervening in the team development process to promote high performance
• Examine strategies to create an environment of trust that supports open communications and feedback
• Explore strategies for designing and leading change initiatives to facilitate the team’s response to emerging organizational imperatives
• Develop a monitoring framework based on communications and performance
feedback to build a succession of leadership
• Assess personal competencies against a referent set of leader competencies to determine strategies for personal growth and development.
